A Call for Safer Sex in the South Florida Porn Industry

The adult films, made in Miami-Dade County, have names like South Beach Cruisin’, and Barely Legal: Miami Girls. In them, one actor wears nothing but roller skates. Others wear nothing at all. And that’s the problem, according to a Los Angeles-based AIDS advocacy group that filed a complaint with the Miami-Dade County Health Department. Seeking a better way to test for ADHD

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — I’m sitting in front of a gray plastic console that resembles an airplane cockpit. It’s a truly simple task, and I’m a college-educated professional. So why do I keep getting it wrong? … Read ahead

The naked truth about sleepwalking

My college roommate had a very disconcerting disorder. I would be sitting on my bed intensely studying neuroanatomy and she, after falling asleep, would begin talking. At first it was kind of fun trying to engage her in conversation as she would say nonsensical things with a normal intonation. After a few minutes of dialogue, however, the trouble began. She would sit straight up with eyes glazed, get out of bed and start walking toward the door of our coed hallway. Oh, I forgot to mention the disconcerting part. Susan slept naked. Somnambulism, or sleepwalking, is a disorder that falls under the category of parasomnias. These are undesirable motor, verbal or experiential events that occur during sleep. … Read ahead
