Adding Mangoes to Your Diet
By far, I love mangoes the best out of all the fruits! They’re juicy, sweet, and pair well with just about any fruit out there. You can blend them in a smoothie, chop them up for salsa, mix with red wine for a sinful sangria, or enjoy in frozen form – for ice cream or a juice bar. The smell alone is divine – much like the fresh scent of citrus, but not similar by any means. To me, they smell like honey and vanilla – definitely ambrosia. Some people don’t like the stringy texture, or the fact that there is a gigantic seed to contend with. But honestly, the flavor is all in that portion surrounding the seed! And the fresher a mango is, the less stringy it will be. Did you know that even the skin is edible? Read ahead

You can probably see where this list is going already. The truth is that what we eat can help us cope with stress. And stress eating unhealthy foods (and portions) is not the true way to relieve recurring stress. While it may be emotionally satisfying to stress eat initially, long term you are developing habits that can lead to increased stress in your life overall. Make healthier eating choices, integrating more fruits and vegetables in your diet, and paying attention to whole grains and fish. Eating red meat is not necessarily a bad thing, but consider portion sizes and frequency. Look for ways to slowly change your nutrition habits. Unhealthy eating puts stress on your body as it contributes to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and other … Read ahead
Los Angeles – â Heart health depends in no small part on diet and exercise, but genes are also crucial. Now, scientists involved in a massive genetic study have come a step closer to understanding the latter’s role, identifying 95 DNA regions associated with cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Of those regions, 59 had not previously been identified and may, with further research, lead to new treatment options. “It’s a gold mine of new discovery,” said Dr. Daniel Rader, a geneticist at the University of Pennsylvania medical school and co-author of two new studies on the research. Both were released online Wednesday in the journal Nature. … Read ahead
His key (and yours, and mine) was and is good old fashioned exercise and a brand new menu. His new regimen is quite strict – in addition to the “no donuts” rule he made for himself (good call there), he has taken a huge step to cut out all carbs completely! In addition to changing his diet, he has committed to exercise as well, and hits the gym 5-6 times per week for 45 minutes each session. … Read ahead

Let's face it, you won't be much use if you are stuck in the hospital on life support, right? I want to get something straight. Hard or long working hours is NOT the problem. In fact, morale is always high when there is good production. It is, 1. the inability to let go and relax, 2. the failure to get sufficient, restful sleep and 3. not taking the time to get the correct nutrition needed for a fast paced lifestyle. Out of the above, #3 is the most important because it is the building block for sustained energy output and can help with the other two points. Taking a wholefood like Chlorella can help dramatically from what I have observed. Because the nutrients in Chlorella are of such good quality, they keep the body in optimum condition. That's not to say that if you keep pouring caffeine or alcohol down your throat and if you just take Chlorella or some other supplement then everything will be just dandy. Of course it won't. But when you take this kind of supplement, the need for these stimulants diminishes and you start to feel your natural body energy coming through. What I do is take plenty of Chlorella throughout my daily routine. By the end of the day I still have energy. I have been doing this for the last few years and I am nowhere near burning out. I also love the mental clarity that taking this supplement produces. I think that is one of it's strong points. So if you feel burnt out or if you are heading down that path then I suggest you supplement your diet with a wholefood like Chlorella. Don't just take a B Complex or some other such vitamin. You need a wholefood! … Read ahead
How many times have you started a diet, a new way of thinking, or tried something new and then a setback occurs and you just go back to the way you were? Don’t worry, you are not the only one! Setbacks and difficulties occur all of the time – they are a natural activity of life. There are two ways of facing difficulties. You either change the challenge or you can alter yourself to be able to better deal with it. Deal with challenges correctly and it will enhance your confidence; deal with them incorrectly and they can do some serious damage to your self worth. … Read ahead

How the First Nine Months Shape the Rest of Your Life
What makes us the way we are? Why are some people predisposed to be anxious, overweight or asthmatic? How is it that some of us are prone to heart attacks, diabetes or high blood pressure? There’s a list of conventional answers to these questions. We are the way we are because it’s in our genes: the DNA we inherited at conception. We turn out the way we do because of our childhood experiences: how we were treated and what we took in, especially during those crucial first three years. Or our health and well-being stem from the lifestyle choices we make as adults: what kind of diet we consume, how much exercise we get…. Read ahead
